In the Event of an Accident
Our first priority is the safety and well-being of you and the other parties involved. After you have ensured everyone’s safety, please follow the steps below:
While at the scene of the accident, call 911 (or local police) to report the accident. Be sure to obtain the police report and number after the report has been filed. Your claim cannot be processed without it!
Exchange YOUR personal contact information and vehicle insurance details with the other parties involved. If you have purchased Renter’s Collision Protection (RCP), remember that RCP has nothing to do with the other party or their vehicle. It only covers Prime Rent-A-Car’s vehicle. Therefore, you do not need to provide the other party with your RCP insurance information.
Take photos and/or videos of both vehicles. You will later need to provide them to the insurance companies, to facilitate the processing of your claim.
If your rental vehicle is not drivable, you will need to have it towed. You can use your own towing service (at your own expense) or you may contact our 24-hour Roadside Assistance Service at (855) 866-3161. You will need to provide the dispatcher with our Policy No: 220246800, the Year, Make, Model, and VIN # of the rental vehicle (located on Page 1 of your rental agreement). A flat-rate roadside assistance charge of $50 may be assessed to your rental if you opted out of our 24/7 Roadside Assistance Service at the time of check-out.
If the accident has occurred during normal business hours, contact Prime Rent-A-Car to report the incident and receive further instructions. If the accident has occurred after-hours, call Prime Rent-A-Car as soon as possible on the next business day, to report the incident and receive further instructions. You can also contact us here and upload any documentation as necessary.
Prime Rental Agents are available to work with you to ensure your claim gets filed with your insurance company, and/or help you file your RCP claim (if applicable).
*** NOTE *** Prime / J.J.’s Loaners is committed to providing only safe and fully operational vehicles for rentals/loaners. Vehicles will undergo a thorough inspection to ensure they are free from damage and meet all safety requirements. If any vehicle is damaged or in poor condition, it will not be made available for rental/loaner until necessary repairs (mechanical and body) are completed. The safety and satisfaction of our customers are our top priorities.
